Ashakiran
As the name spells ‘Ashakiran ‘A ray of hope it is a centre for the children who
are affected by HIV/AIDS and who has no further hope to better future.
There are thousands of children in Nagpur itself who either lost both parents or the
children who live with their single parent who is suffering with HIV/AIDS.
These children just roam around without having proper food. Nobody cares them
and some of the neighbours, relatives and shop keepers were taking advantages of
these children by making them to do some works. So Ashakiran is taking care of such
children by
providing shelter with the purpose of educating them in order to have better future.
Our main aim is to empower HIV/AIDS children, the marginalized and vulnerable
individual and to provide access to various educational, health, counselling and
guidance to become better citizens.
Ashakiran shelter home started on 26th June 2011.The children comes here are
between the age of 5 to 10.The children after coming here shows much interest in
studies and developing their various talents. Here they are provided with all types
of training like music, dance, drawing and computer classes’ .Tuition for week
students and special care for unhealthy children are our special concern. Along
with their children we also take care of their care takers and the people who are
suffering with HIV/AIDS or after death of husband the suffering women. We visit
their houses and share the problems through phones or when they come to meet
the children. Through counselling many of them are able to start a new changed life.
